i run

i run because i can. i run for how it makes me feel. i run to eat. i run because i am a wife and mom. i run because i want to challenge myself. i run to hear a. ask how my run was today and how many miles did i run. i run for my walk breaks. i run for coffee. and tex-mex. and chocolate. i run because i enjoy the outdoors. i run for the medals. and the t-shirts. i run slow and steady. i run to be a good example. i run to finish. i run to discover what my body can do. i run and no one is chasing me. i run because it's mine. i run because i can.

why do you run?

I run to still be able to run faster than my 11 year old when he is 15 and for all of the same reasons you run :)

I run because it is envigorating and empowering, I run because it stimulates the drive in me that says "don't quit"...I run because it makes me feel free and young and great. I run because right at the end when I think I am slowing down..there is this burning ambtion to push harder, and run faster, and the feeling that creates is all mine and can't be taken away by anything or anyone. I run because it is individual, and independant, I run because there is no other thing that makes me feel quite how it does. AMAZING!

Thank you for your post....you are such an inspiration. I am back to the humidity and a little sad about it but also a little glad.

I run because I love to push my heart and lungs so hard it feels like they're going to break. I run because I love to eat cookie dough. I run because it clears my head and makes me less cranky. I run to relieve stress. I run so I can buy cool shoes and cute running skirts. I run just because.

i run for most of those reasons too! :) i seem to be finding more reasons to run- and they are becoming more successful at getting myself out of bed in the morning!

Awesome post. I run (when I do) because I love to feel my body working. I like to feel my legs move, my muscles contracting, my lungs expanding, my blood pumping. I'm an anatomy and physiology fanatic, that's why I run (or walk, etc., sometimes). *B

Amen. Although my running started mainly because I wanted to run a marathon (at least this time around), I think I can keep it up because running is the only time when I am totally and completely at peace with my body. I can feel my muscles working together to move me forward. I can feel my heart pumping blood to my body to keep me alive. I forget about how much I don't like how my body looks and am completely focused on what my body can do.

I run for the challenge and I run to see just what I can do. Running also clears my head and makes me feel like I am strong enough to work through anything. Oh, and I run to eat chocolate...lots of it!:)

i run because it's cheaper than therapy... it gives me time to think and vent. running gives me a place to rid myself of frustrations and anger. running makes it easier to have a bowl of ice cream at midnight. i run so that i can keep up with my kids. i run because it's one of the few things i do for myself.

I usually only run if there is a huge dog chasing me! I walk otherwise!

I run because I'm late. I run because I saw a spider. I run because I really have to use the bathroom right away.

I like your reasons better.

I run (and walk) so I won't turn into a fat tub of gooooo.

Running isn't at the top of my list...

I'd rather play soccer again, but that's not conveinent

I'd rather play racquetball again, but that's not conveinent

I'd rather climb mountains, but that's not conveinent.

I run because it's conveinent and I run so I won't turn into a fat tub of goooooo.

I wish I was passionate about it....perhaps one day

Great post by the way

That's very profound. I'm not a runner because I'm lazy and unmotivated. ;) But if I was a runner I'd most certainly want to run with the Flamingos. You girls rock.

I've gotten out of the habit...you keep reminding me that I need to get out and RUN!

I pretty much only run errands.:) but I love what you wrote. It really made me think, maybe not of running but what motivates me to do the things I do.
Blessings

I love to run, but have let my running dwindle to almost nothing. Right now, I wish I could run more! And when I do run, your reasons sound perfect :)

Jill's answers cracked me up! I am not a runner yet, but every time I visit you I want to be. You may be cracking me yet.

My favorite reason of yours was, "I run and no one is chasing me."
