A few weeks ago I was tickled by a series of posts over at the Nesting Place about the indiscriminate use of fake plants in well intentioned, however misguided, attempts to decorate our homes. She even hosted a P.O.O.P.I.E Party, and encourages strict adherence to certain faking it guidelines. She is a hoot.
I am not sure where I fall on the fake plant continuum. During the normal months of the year, I do have a few around, but I promise they are fairly realistic. Fairly. However. There is something about Fall decorating that brings out my inner Fake Leaf addiction.
Let's take a tour and you can decide for yourself.
New arrangement (and I use that term loosely) for the front door. Is it too much?
That's right. Gourds on pedestals. I just can't help myself.
Here's the top of our TV armoire. More gourds. And leaf garland. (Are we still friends?)
Except there seems to be a glaring empty space in the middle. Don't you think SOMETHING needs to be added? But what?
Last, but not least, our mantel.
One more thing. There may or may not be two fall swags placed over our french doors. I am torn. Sometimes I look up and think, "Oh, cozy and festive." and other times I gag. They may be too much Fall. As if.
Now. Please tell me what you think. I can take it. What should I add/change/burn? Be honest.
(I hope the Great Pumpkin likes it.)

gourdgeous!!
(i have almost been overwhelmed by all of the creative fall-y goodness out there. i don't know where to start! so many ideas i want to try!)
LOVE it!! I think the fake fall leaves are great. I agree that normally fake flowers and foliage looks goofy. I try to limit it, but I still have offenders around my house. It's hard. Your decor is so cute. I would do a large pumpkin type thing in the middle of your armoire. Have you seen the kinds they have at Marshalls? I have a few. They are made of natural things, like real leaves. I haven't even thought about bringing out my fall decor yet.
I am glad you and your family stayed safe during Ike. The damage will clear but we are still here. OK too poetic, slap me.
Love the fall decorating!
I love your decorations- I love fall!
I can't wait to get mine out, I'm slowly getting it done.
What happened to the end of the party???
I doing a little fall home tour on my blog this week and I am with you on the fall fake stuff. Acually, I've even got some of the fake green ivy in my house. I love it...it can fill space, and make things look more "pulled together". Honestly, I didn't know it was "out" until that whole HGTV bad things list from a few weeks ago. I love all your little pumpkins on pedestals.
i love all your stuff. the pedestal thingys are especially hip. I'm not that great of a holiday decorator. Can you come over?
I can't let my kids see. They think I am such a humbug with seasonal decor.
You did a great job!
I say keep it all! I love Halloween, and you can never do wrong with any black & orange decor. *B
I love it! I agree with the earlier comment, maybe a pumpkin or something in the middle of the armoire.
I love it! I don't have many fall decorations, but fall is my favorite season for sure!!
PS - just saw Lelly's comment, cracking me up!
I'm holding off til October first. Yours looks great!
I vote cozy and festive!
