I almost titled this post "I Bought a Rug and It Made Me So Happy", but that might seem, I don't know,
...shallow.
But I did. And it did. So there you have it.
What was I talking about? Oh yeah, our new rug. For months, maybe even a year or two, we have not had a rug in our family room. The shame. The sore bottoms. I have oohed and ahhed over several in catalogs and online, but never took the leap. Because, hello, have you priced area rugs lately? Are they woven with gold? I don't understand.
Thank goodness Tuesday Morning came to my rescue. Plus Lauren Bacall shops there, or at least she used to, I haven't seen her commercials for a while.
What was I talking about? Oh yeah, our new rug. Here, take a peek:
After standing there lifting, pushing, and flipping through their not so organized rug
The flowers might be a bit bold and punchy, but something about the orange drew me in. It made me happy. It also looks like needlepoint, which made me happy (but not break out the doilies happy).
After I loaded the rug into the cart I made my way to the check-out, wheeling by the pillow aisle, where two orange pillows introduced themselves and begged to go home with me. So they did.
In a perfect world the rug would be large enough to go under our couch. But that perfect world is also very expensive, so this will work just fine. And dandy. (Why does that irritating Hard Candy Christmas song spring to mind? Do you remember that song? Circa 1986. Oh my.)
Here's a more of a bird's eye view from our bar stool. I'm not crazy about the beige chair pattern, but I don't think it clashes too terribly. Right? Shaking you by the shoulders so you will agree with me, right?!?! The poofy beige sofa was a free hand me down, and it's comfy, so...there you have it.
What do you think? The tags are still attached, so please be honest.

Well, I'm loving it. I seriously think you "done" good. It's very expensive looking and the orange pillows are great.
I like it! It looks great in the room. Aren't you supposed to mix patterns anyway? :)
I bought Here Be Dragons today. Looking forward to reading it.

Thanks y'all!
I ripped the tags off and have fallen head over heels, so...
it's staying.
It's perfect! I don't know you you could have ever considered anything else. I LOVE rugs and pattern rugs, so I'm a bit biased, but it is fab.
Happy Birthday to your sweet little one. The rug and the pillow look fabulous!
Blessings
You did good here! I wouldn't call myself an expert but what I see is a room that is warm and inviting...family friendly with a feminine touch. Love the rug and the pop of the orange.
I love it! In fact, it looks just like what I need for my living room...
